How God relates Himself to us

  • Pitahamasya jagato mata dhata pitamahah (BG Ch 9, Sl-17)
I am the eternal Father and the Mother of all living beings.

  • Gatir bharta prabhu sakshi nivasah sharanam suhrit (BG Ch-9, Sl-18)
I am the goal, supporter, Lord, witness, shelter, refuge and the best friend of all living beings.

  • Ananyaschintayanto mam ye jana paryupasate Tesham nityabhiyuktanam yogakshemam vahamyam (BG ch-9, Sl-22)
Those who worship Me through their constant thinking of Me, I supply their deficiencies and make their gains permanent.

  • Samoham sarvabhuteshu na me dveshyosti na priyah (BG Ch 9, Sl-29)
I am equal to all. No one is particularly dear or hateful to Me.

How does God treat the evil doers?

  • Api chet suducharo bhajate mamanyabhak, Sadhureva sa mantavya samyag vyavasito hi sah (BG Ch 9, Sl-30)
Even a great evil doer who turns to Me in worship should be considered as good for he has rightly resolved.

  • Kshipram bhavati dharmatma shashvach chantim nigacchati (BG Ch 9, Sl-31)
Soon he will become a good soul and find eternal peace.

  • Mam hi Partha vyapashritya ye'pi syuh papayonayah, Striyo vaishyas tatha shudrah te'pi yanti param gatim (BG Ch 9, Sl-32)
Taking shelter in Me all beings can achieve the highest fulfillment even if they be of sinful womb, or women or vaishyas or shudras.

God's loving instructions to devoties

  • Manmana bhava madbhakto madyaji mam namaskuru, Mameva eishyase yuktvaivam atmanam matparayanah. (BG Ch 9, Sl-34)
Fix your mind on Me, be thou My devotee, with unceasing worship bow reverently before Me. Having thus united thyself to Me you will come to Me.

  • Yat karoshi yad ashnasi yajjuhosi dadasi yat, Yat tapasyasi Kaunteya tat kurushva mad arpanam. (BG Ch 9, Sl-27)
O son of Kunti, all that you do, all that you eat, all that you offer as oblation or all that you give away as gifts or all austerities that you perform. Do all these as offering to Me.

  • Shubhashubha phalair evam mokshyase karma bandhanaih, Sanyasa yoga yuktatma vimukto mam upaishyasi (BG Ch 9, Sl-28)
In this way you will be freed from the good or bad consequences of your karma. Anchored in Me by the regular practice of yoga and renunciation you will attain Me.

  • Patram pushpam phalam toyam yo me bhaktya prayachati, Tadaham bhakti upahritam ashnami prayatatmanah. (BG Ch 9, Sl-26)
A loving offering to Me of a leaf, a flower, a fruit or a few drops of water is readily acceptable by Me.
