| differentiate self from non-self? More and more evidences are accumulating to show that this is because of the central nervous system. The central nervous system(CNS) has well established intricate feed back connections with the immune system, through the nerve endings and the neuro- transmitter chemicals. If the CNS is disturbed, the whole chain of events get disturbed. How and why does the CNS get disturbed? The CNS is disturbed if your mind is disturbed. Long standing, persistent emotional surges and suppressions go on triggering the loop of the intense activity in the limbic (emotions) cortex which finds no time to rest. This excitement not only disturbs the sympathetic and parasympathetic balance as we saw in APD and IBS, but it hits the immune system too. The function that is disturbed whenever you are in trouble is the most recently learnt lesson. In the immune system, the killer instinct (a more basic reflex) is an earlier lesson in evolution as compared to the lesson of “differentiating the self from non-self". Hence whenever you are stressed chronically, it disturbs and knocks off the capacity of the immune system to discriminate self from non self, and releases the killer instinct against your own organs that become |
