| Ultrasound waves are sound waves that are reflected back from the vessels. When the ultrasound is directed towards a blood vessel, the sound wave is mainly reflected by the red blood cells, which flow inside the vessel. A visual wave pattern is recognizable for each vessel. Abnormal ‘Flow Velocity Wave’ (FVW) or high resistance in the vessels of the uterus shows that there is poor blood supply to the placenta and in the uteroplacental circulation. Doppler Velocimetry is done as a screening test in early pregnancy to predict problems when suspected. Commonly, the usual ultrasound scan and certain bio-chemical tests will give lot of information about the growing baby. Research in Yoga for Pregnant women is fairly a new concept. Though there are several books written on the practice of yoga in women and in pregnancy, both in the East and the West, there is little existing literature on controlled research study in this field. We have done a study, which has proved that yoga is an important, useful and safe method of preventing as well as treating pregnant women with problems or complications. 1.7 Child Birth We have come to the most important stage of Pregnancy. Labour For 9 months, the unborn child has been developing within the womb. Now the fetus is prepared to make an exit. Birth in human beings typically occurs 280 days after conception, near the end of a full 9 months. Shortly before birth (typically a few weeks for first births but sometimes only a few hours for later pregnancies), the fetus usually rotates into a head-downward position. This movement is referred to as lightening because it releases pressure on the mother's abdomen. |
