Your retreat includes: airport transfers, all meals, accommodations, twice daily yoga & meditation classes with Heather Jones, renowned Canadian Yoga Therapist & Teacher, plus a 2 night/3 day stay at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center where you will immerse yourself in traditional ashram culture.
This beautiful, safe and gentle area of India offers the perfect doorway to begin your travels and explorations of one of the most spiritual destinations on earth. Travellers and foreigners are embraced into the more laid back culture of this part of India. The tropical climate here, with it`s abundant rainfall during monsoon season, means that Kerala is lush and the living is easier.
The town of Kovalam itself is situated along the Malabar Coast. Kovalam is a famous beach destination visited by Indian and international tourists year round. It is 15 km from the capital city, Thiruvananthapuram where guests will likely fly into.
The retreat schedule will include an invigorating morning yoga asana and pranayama practice; setting the intention for the day, building heat and energy and working our way through all the chakras. Morning yoga will finish with silent meditation. Each evening will include a soft, cooling flexibility-based yoga practice with deep relaxation techniques to help encourage healing, rejuvination and introspection. Experience with Yoga is definitely an asset although the classes will be taught as All Levels practices to help each individual thrive at the level they are most suited. Only participants in good physical and mental health will be accepted into this retreat.
Meals will be prepared by renowned Canadian Chef Scott Hunter. His expertise with international cuisine and his passion for teaching should satisfy not only your palate but also your curiosity about some of the local ingredients and spices. The Chef will prepare mainly light vegetarian dishes with some seafood options as this is abundant in this region of India. The Chef will extend an open invitation for guests to join him at the local markets if they choose.
Overall this retreat will be as relaxing as it is invigorating. Prepare to relax as well as challenge yourself with daily yoga practices that should have you returning home refreshed in many ways.
