The COVID-19 pandemic is causing mental stress for all of us. There are many ways to maintain our mental health and physical health. There are breathing techniques that will not only help ease your COVID-19 anxiety but also help you to increase Lung Capacity.

The Best Three Breathing Exercises to Increase Lung Capacity:

1. Rib Stretching

For this exercise, all you need to do is stand upright and exhale until your lungs are empty. Place your hands on the sides of your torso, with the fingers resting gently on the undulations between ribs. Then gradually breathe in, filling your lungs as much as possible, feeling the intercostal muscles (the muscles between the ribs) expand. Hold your breath for as long as comfortable. Now, exhale your breath slowly and return to a relaxed position.

2. Abdominal Breathing

For this exercise, all you need to do is lie in a comfortable position on your back. Then rest your one hand on your abdomen and one hand on your chest. Breathe in slowly, while first filling your lungs and then a little more toward your abdomen. Do until you feel your stomach rise higher than your chest. Exhale from the mouth fully and then inhale again through your nose, feeling your stomach rise each time. Try to hold your breath for 7 to 8 sec or more if possible.

3. Pushing Out

For this exercise, all you need to do is stand upright relaxed your knees. Slowly bend down at the waist, pushing air out of your lungs. Then, stand back upright and inhale until your lungs are filled to maximum capacity. Gently raise your arms above your head while holding your breath and try to hold your breath for as long without feeling uncomfortable. Then, slowly bring your arms down and exhale throughout your mouth, back to a relaxed position
