Patanjali Yoga Sutras

Parinamaikatvat vastu-tattvam.

Parinama = change, transformation; ekatvat = on account of the uniqueness, oneness; vastu = object; tattvam = the essence, reality.

The essence of the objects lies in the uniqueness of the transformation (of Gunas). IV-4.

As we saw in the previous sutra, Gunas are at the base of the entire universe. Each and every individual object is nothing but transformation of the three Gunas i.e. Sattva, Rajas and Tamas that are, in turn, nothing but various types of forces and motions. Satta is a combination of Rajas and Tamas. If Rajas is one type of force/motion, Tamas is of other type. Ultimately, whole universe is nothing but a force/motion/energy. In his famous book Tao of Physics, F.Capra says that the whole universe is nothing but a dynamic web of inseparable energy patterns.
