Abstract: Yajna is derived from the Sanskrit verb yaj. Yajna, Yaga , Havana ,Homa etc are the synonymous. The philosophy of yajna teaches a way of living in the society in harmony. The Yajnas are divided into various categories according to the need, purpose and technicalities. Aptoryama is one such yajna which falls under Soma yajna. This yajna has specialty of having twenty one oblations of Soma juice and yajna takes place for eleven days.

This study was aimed to measure the claims of Aptoryama yajna by modern scientific research . The studies conducted in Aptoryama yajna were an attitudinal survey, measuring consciousness fields using REG, effect of Yajna on the counts of air borne bacteria and analysis of ash for any anti bacterial activity and bacterial counts. Many studies have been conducted on Agnihotra a type of yajna have found encouraging results for the agriculture.

  1. The survey indicates that people attending the yajna have spiritual reasons also their life is very much affected the spiritual activities.

  2. The study of measuring consciousness fields using REG has shown that on comparing day one with day nine which was full of activities like chanting of mantras, extraction of soma juice and others may have sufficient strength to make the random sequence non-random.

  3. The study on the effect of yajna on the counts of air borne bacteria has shown that there is increase in bacterial counts at shorter as well as at larger distance.

  4. On the study of ash filtrate that was done using standard the filtrate tested negative for bacteria and also for anti bacterial activity.

The results show that yajna has some effect on the environment and people.


Summary & Conclusion:  Attitudinal Survey : The reasons for people attending the yajna are spiritual reasons and their life is very much affected. It can be concluded

  1. These results indicates that the people are concerned about the spiritual activity like yajna and it does commensurate with the life style

  2. Spiritual activity is important in the life of people and this kind of spiritual gathering affect the life style of the people.

  3. There are efforts towards the revival of the age old traditions which bring countrymen in a platform and bring harmony and peace.

Reg Experiment : Hence, the results of the present study suggest that during the Vedic ritual" `Apthoaryama yajna'', the" collective consciousness' , chanting of mantras and people gathered may sufficient strength to make the random sequence non-random on the day . Following can be concluded :

  1. These results indicate that the yajna did bring about an enhancement in the power of psycho- kinesis in a session.

  2. The results indicate a possibility of enhancement of the power of influencing the REG in yajna .

Air Borne Bacterial Counts : Following can be summarized:

In this study we find that there was increase in the bacterial counts at 20m and also at 40 meter distance. Also we find that as the yajna has progressed there was increase in bacterial counts.
